Dictionary Linguee App Reviews

I used Linguee constantly as I was learning German. It does a great job of defining words as they are actually used and in allowing look-up of phrases that can be otherwise extremely difficult to define without simply having someone to ask. I still use it often for tough translations. The idea, the framework, and even the functionality are extremely helpful. The app is about the simplest, lowest resolution app you can imagine on an iProduct. Why display just a few lines of fat Apple IIe text on a retina display? For a reasonable display, you have to go to the website, which unfortunately is no more mobile-optimized. Poor execution.

The app starts returning possible results after a few letters, great help when manually entering long words. Built-in info is very comprehensive; online is available if needed.

I use linguee on my desktop all the time for Spanish. Im very disappointed to find that the app has no support for languages beyond German and for the iPad. Uninstalled immediately as this app is useless for me because Im not studying German.

This app and website work very well for me. They put words and phrases into context so I can make sure Im using them or determine how to use them in the proper syntax. Its a good, useful app - get it!

Very comprehensive. The only change I would wish for is a bit of context for usage.

This app is great for super-fast lookups and (usually) examples of use. Some other apps provide a bit more functionality such as conjugations, but I end up using this one 99% of the time because its so dang quick and fast to use. Recommended!

Its a quick an easy source for translating German to English. And its in your pocket

Best app to get the true sense of a word or phrase and not just a dumb dumb translation. I love it!

This app is great once you get used to the format and concept. Having definitions in context instead of just isolated words is a great idea. The online version is easier to navigate, especially since the source word is highlighted in yellow there, whereas on my iPhone, you have to wade through sentence after sentence to see where the word you looked up is, and how it is used. It would be great to have a mobile version for the other languages found at the online site as well.

Linguee is the tool I turn to when slang in marketing and obscure, field-specific terminology (especially in the social sciences and legal sector) cant be answered by the popular online translation dictionaries. In providing context snippets and "scoring" on the results, Linguee dramatically increases my chances of a correct/appropriate translation. I pair this tool with the Dict.cc translation app or website and recommend both for the best results.

I use the website online all the time so I was happy to discover that there was an app for it too. The search feature works really well, especially because an internet connection isnt needed. Having an online option is also very helpful. The website has many other languages too though, so please add more languages to the app as well. Itd be very much appreciated :)

Very easy and simple to use.

The website has many languages, the app only German. The website is great, extremely useful since it gives multiple points of view on how the word/ phrase is used and in what context, now if you could just add Spanish to the App like in the website thatd be great. 5 stars if it had the other languages the website offers.

I have used the Leo dictionary for a long time. The difference with this app is the automatic paste when opening the app which makes the search faster. Also, this app finds phrases as opposed to just definitions. I find for an advanced learner the Linguee app is more useful.

Linguee is like nothing else. It lets you see current uses of a word or phrase in context. This gives you a much better sense of how the word is used. It is indispensable for understanding noun-verb, verb-preposition bindings. For these it is vastly better than even the most expensive dictionaries

Cant change languages - no control. You might get what you want or you might get more or less than you want without any possibility to change. Truly frustrating

Love the way it gives situations to explain usage, the English might be a little "french" sometimes but overall the French is just perfect. Great app.

On my computer, Linguee is such a great tool for any language; unfortunately, the app only works for English-German. I will try to download it in the future.
